SUMMARY:Warsztat: 10 Activities for Incorporating Critical Thinking and Media Literacy Into Your Class
DESCRIPTION:Zapraszamy na warsztat poświęcony współczesnym kompetencjom medialnym i umiejętności krytycznego myślenia. Rejestracja trwa do 15.01.2021 (piątek). [Zapisy zostały zamknięte.]\n\n\nWarsztaty odbędą się we współpracy z Ambasadą USA.\n\n\n\n\n\nBrief summary of the workshop:\nIn this webinar, we discusse how to recognize common logical fallacies and identify the language of bias in order to help our students improve their critical thinking and media literacy skills. This presentation will introduce also a variety of ideas for developing media literacy skills using critical thinking.\nSince most educators don’t have the luxury of teaching a dedicated Media Literacy or Critical Thinking course, we will review activities that can be used as short, stand-alone activities in the classroom.\nWe’ll also look at online games and quizzes that can be assigned as homework. All of the activities require little or no prep work, so participants can immediately try them out in their own contexts.\nAdditional sources will be shared so that educators can expand their own knowledge and repertoire of media literacy and related materials.\n\n\n\n\n\nWillow Barnosky is an experienced TESL/TEFL professional. She has taught ESL and EFL in the United States, Japan, and South Korea in adult education, intensive language institutes, community college, and university contexts.\nDuring the first semester of the academic year of 2019/20 she conducted courses of advanced English to the students of English Philology at the University of Rzeszów through the English Language Fellow Program supported by the Department of State. She also ran a series of seminars for ESL teachers and delivered webinars for IATEFL Poland. In the 2020-2021 academic year Willow she is associated with the University of Opole through the Virtual English Language Fellow Program.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
